Formatting is the final step in getting a book ready for publication, and occurs after any and all editing and proofreading you will be doing. I do not edit any of the book’s content other than to format it. The book’s content should be 100% finalized – both text and any images you wish to be included – and if you require an ebook file, the ebook cover needs to be finished and sent to me so I can attach it to your files. I do not need your paperback wrap for any reason, and can provide a final page count for you once we finalize your interior files (so your cover designer can get started on your wrap).

Really, though – everything. Your full manuscript in docx format (a PDF is not acceptable), any front and back matter you’d like included, also in docx format, any and all images you need included, your finalized ebook cover if you are needing ebook files, plus for you to fill out my form below, which asks everything else I need to know. I (and the dozens of clients I’ve had to date) can assure you that all of your files are both safe and secure with me, and are never ever shared with anyone else.

I provide ePub files for eBooks, and PDF files for print books.

Should you be publishing with either Ingramspark (print books) or Apple Books (eBook), I will provide you separate files for each of these retailers, as they have specific export requirements in order to meet their printing standard.

While I can also provide MOBI files upon request, know that KDP (Amazon) no longer accepts MOBI files as uploads for eBooks.

I cannot take specific font requests for eBooks, as anyone reading the book can change the font on their reader.

But for print books, when not specifically instructed otherwise, I use Adobe Caslon Pro for the body text, and Baskerville Old Face for headers.

If you have a deadline you need to meet, please be sure I know what it is as soon as possible. But don’t be afraid to approach me with a deadline – I can and have worked with clients on tight schedules.

In scenarios where there is not a deadline, my turnaround is typically between 1-2 weeks for a standard fiction book of 90k words or less.

I have paid subscriptions to both Depositphotos and Midjourney, and all packages include at least one graphic from these sources (should you choose to use it) that I can then include in your book file(s). Feel free to provide me Depositphotos links should you already have images in mind, or I can go searching for you.

Should you select the AI/Midjourney option, I will generate an image for you that, upon your approval, can be used in your finished files.
